3. I need to produce a video but don’t know where to start. When I call you for a quotation, what information should I keep on hand so that you can give me a quote as quickly as possible?

We know that not everyone knows everything about video production so we try and keep things simple and hassle-free for our clients. When you call us, there are a few things we need to find out from you to be able to come up with a quotation as quickly as possible. It is better to be prepared, especially if you’re in a hurry and on a strict deadline for your video project.

These are the questions we will most likely ask you the first time we talk:

• What is the purpose of your video?
• Who is your target audience?
• Where will the video be shown?
• What is the main message you want to put across?
• Do you have an idea or concept for the video?
• How many minutes should the video last?
• What are your non-negotiables – meaning, what has to be included in your video (e.g. graphics, narration, animation, location, talents)?
• When is the final video due?
• Who will be our point person who will approve the script and the video?
• Will there be someone from your company who will accompany the team during the shoot and if so, who will it be?
• What is your budget?
• When can we start?

4. How much time do you need to produce a promotional or marketing video for my company? What factors can cause delays?

The time we need to produce a video really depends on a lot of factors but mostly, we can work on a timeframe that suits your needs. If you need the video next week, then we do what we can to produce it for you in the time given.

Usually, delays are experienced during the approval process of the video produced. Rushing the production and post-production won’t be much use if the process is stalled once it is being approved. The length of time spent in the approval process can be further shortened with the presence of a content expert during the entire production process. This way, our production team can be kept on the right track and can avoid mistakes that necessitate re-shootings or major overhauls.

5. How much will producing a video cost? What are the services included in this cost?

As with the amount of time needed to produce a video, there are a lot of variables that can influence the projected and final cost of producing your video. These variables are determined by what your video requires us to do.

Examples of what are included in the cost are: pre-production services (generating ideas and conceptualization), scripting (with revisions), number of shooting days, transportation and food (for the crew and talents), tapes and DVDs, graphics, animation, talent fees of actors and production crew, props, wardrobe, set design and video editing.

At first glance, producing a video may seem expensive. However, you have to keep in mind that these are long-term investments that can help you earn revenues for a lengthy period. If you divide the overall cost of producing a video over the number of years you will be using it, you will realize how good of an investment videos can be for your business.

6. I don’t know squat about video production. What are the steps you follow in producing a video?

Step 1: Pre-production

This involves planning and conceptualizing the video, ironing out details of the shoot, and making sure that we are aligned with the objective and goals of the video we are about to create. The budget is also finalized at this stage.

Step 2: Script Writing

After finalizing the concepts and coming up with ideas, our writers will come up with draft scripts that has to be approved by the customer before we can proceed with the next step.

Step 3: Production

Once a shooting script is approved by the client, shooting commences. Once this is done, an editing script is drafted and is sent to the client for approval. Meanwhile, all the material we have accumulated will be digitized into the video editing machines. If we are using a narrator, we will hire a professional voice talent to record the approved editing script and digitize the recording into the computer.

Step 4: Editing

After all the material has been digitized into our computers, we proceed with editing the video itself; first laying an audio track composed of the recorded narration as well as the interviews, and then inserting appropriate video materials in the visual track. Musical scoring as well as any special effects, graphics and animation is also done at this stage. When done, the client can then view the video for approval. If there are revisions, this is accomplished and sent again for review.

Step 5: Dubbing Out/DVD Authoring

Once the final video is approved, we are ready to create a master copy of the video on DVD. The DVD master is then delivered to the client, ready for use.
